Will the embassy manually read my tweets or use automated tools?

I just realized the application asks for all social media accounts from the last 5 years. I mostly use Twitter to complain about politics, nothing illegal.
Do they actually review posts, or is it more of an automated red-flag check? I’m tempted to deactivate everything before submitting.

The US asks for your social media accounts, but they usually don’t read every post. They mainly look for red flags like illegal activity or extremist content. Normal political complaints or personal posts won’t cause problems.

Logic check. It is structurally impossible for human officers to manually scroll through five years of content for every applicant. They almost certainly use automated scripts to parse for specific keywords related to security threats or illegal activity. Deactivating implies you have something to hide, which is a bigger red flag than political opinions. Pushing to prod with a blank profile is risky. Just provide the handles.

Your digital footprint is definitely part of the vetting process now. Yes, the government reviews social media handles primarily for security screening and identity verification. While they do not have the manpower to read every single tweet, automated systems flag specific keywords related to violence or illegal activity. Complaining about politics is generally not a reason for visa denial as officers focus on security threats.
