UAE Visa Confusion for Kiwis: 30 or 90 Days?

Hi everyone in the Asia Visas forum! I’m a New Zealander (Kiwi passport holder) excited to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi next month for some adventure and sightseeing. But I’m totally confused about the visa on arrival. Some sites say it’s 30 days, others mention 90 days multiple entry valid for 6 months. What’s the real deal? And if I go with the 30-day one, can I extend it for another 30 days once I’m there? Any tips or personal experiences would be awesome! Thanks! :new_zealand::airplane:

Hey Liam! As an Aussie, I got the visa on arrival last year in Dubai – for us it’s 30 days, but I think for Kiwis it’s the same. Wait, let me double-check. Actually, upon quick search, New Zealand passports qualify for 30 days free visa on arrival, but there’s a multiple-entry option for 90 days if you apply online via UAE’s ICP site. Better confirm with official sources to avoid myths! I extended mine easily at the airport immigration for another 30 days, cost about 250 AED. Safe travels! :camera_with_flash::mosque:

Hey, @liamwilson_hiker nice plan - UAE is super easy on a Kiwi passport :new_zealand::airplane:

For New Zealand passport holders:

  • You get a visa on arrival, free of charge, generally treated as a multiple-entry visit visa valid for 6 months from first entry, with a max stay of up to 90 days in total in that period (not just 30).

  • You don’t need to apply in advance - just land in Dubai/Abu Dhabi, they stamp you in.

Because you already get up to 90 days, the usual 30+30 style “extension” question doesn’t really apply like it does for some other nationalities. For a normal 2 - 3 week trip, you’re well within the limit - no extension needed.

I’d still double-check with your airline’s visa info page a few days before flying, but for Kiwis, Dubai/Abu Dhabi is normally very straightforward.
