Reapplying for parents B1/B2 visa after OPT approval as an only child

Hi everyone, I am pushing to production on a new plan for my parents’ US visa application, but I need a logic check. My parents were refused a B1/B2 visa last year under section 214(b) while I was finishing my degree. I have since started my job on OPT as a Junior Developer.

The main bug in our previous application seems to be that I am an only child, which the officer interpreted as strong immigrant intent for my parents to stay permanently. I want to optimize their next application. Has anyone successfully handled this specific edge case (only child + OPT employment)? How long should I wait to establish enough history to prove stability before they reapply?

Realizing this is not about your employment stability but rather their intent to return…

The key factor is your parents’ own intent to return home, not your OPT status or being an only child. They should reapply only after there is a clear change in circumstances, focusing on strong home-country ties, property, income, family, responsibilities.

I wish to share a relevant narrative regarding a similar refusal.

I am in a similar situation and am drafting my inquiry for a consultant.
