How Much Bank Balance for Canadian Visitor Visa? Need Advice!

Hi everyone in the Canada visa forum! I’m from Singapore and planning a two-week vacation in Toronto and Vancouver this summer. I’ve got my job and family ties back home, but I’m stressing about the financial proof for the TRV application. I don’t have a US visa, so I want to make sure my bank statements look solid. What’s the recommended bank balance? Is CAD 5,000-10,000 enough for a short trip like mine, or should I aim higher? Any tips on strengthening my application without a US visa? Thanks!

Namaste Kevin! As a fellow traveler from India, I applied recently and showed CAD 12,000 for 15 days to be safe. Cricket matches in Toronto? Awesome plan! Bank balance alone isn’t enough; show transaction history to prove legitimacy. Ties to home:Mention your job and family obligations. Without US visa, it’s fine—just be transparent. All the best, bhai! :cricket_game:

hey! @kevin_glow9 :waving_hand:

IRCC doesn’t give a magic “minimum,” they look at the whole picture (income, savings, itinerary, ties to SG). For a 2-week Toronto + Vancouver summer trip:

  • How much to show?
Rough trip cost lands around CAD 5k - 7k (flights, hotels, food, YYZ↔YVR, bits & bobs). I’d aim to show 8k - 12k CAD liquid as a comfy buffer. If you’ve prepaid hotels/flights, you can show less - just attach those receipts.

  • Bank statement vibes:
Give 3 - 6 months with steady salary coming in. Avoid sudden big deposits; if you have one, explain it (bonus/FD maturity) and add proof. FDs/credit limits help as extras, but keep enough cash - ready.

  • No US visa? totally fine. Strengthen elsewhere:

    • A 1-page cover letter that ties everything together (dates, cities, who’s paying, why you’ll come back).

    • Ties to SG: employment letter + approved leave, last 3 payslips, IRAS/CPF, family/lease if relevant.

    • Itinerary & bookings: refundable hotels, YYZ ↔ YVR flight, travel insurance.

    • Travel history: scan old visas/stamps if you have them.

  • Is 5k - 10k enough?
5k can work if big stuff is prepaid and income looks steady. 7k - 10k is safer if not much is prepaid. The key is your money story matching your plan.

good luck! :raising_hands:

Hey, software dev here from Korea—applied for Canada last month and got approved with CAD 9,500 shown. For two weeks, calculate daily costs:CAD 200/day x 14 + flights/hotels. Ties to home are non-negotiable; I included my K-pop concert tickets back home to show return intent. No US visa? Include proof of previous travels elsewhere. GLHF! :video_game:
