Clarification on jurisdiction and ties for dual citizen visa application

I hold both Italian and Jordanian citizenship, but I have been living in Jordan for the past ten years. I am planning to travel to Italy, and I am confused about the application process regarding my location. Will an officer in Italy review my financial and familial ties to Jordan and consider them sufficient, or will they reject the application and tell me I must apply in Jordan since that is where my life is primarily based? I want to ensure I follow the correct protocol to avoid any jurisdictional issues.

Realizing this is not about a standard visa evaluation, it is crucial to clarify your status immediately. As an Italian citizen, you do not apply for a Schengen visa to enter Italy, regardless of your long-term residency in Jordan. The application of ‘jurisdiction’ and proof of ‘ties’ applies to third-country nationals, not citizens.

Has anyone from the Middle East region actually successfully boarded a flight to Rome using just a National ID card alongside a non-EU passport?

Since you are an Italian citizen, the safest and correct approach is to travel using your Italian passport, as no visa or application is required.

I was informed by border control authorities in a similar context that consistency in documentation is paramount. During my travel last year, I was taken aside because I attempted to exit on one document and enter on another without a unified record. I was told that while my citizenship was not in question, the lack of a stamped entry in my foreign passport created a procedural discrepancy.
