It has been fifteen weeks since I submitted my documents, and the silence from the embassy is becoming burdensome to my spirit. My application for a Belgium Schengen visa was handed over in Islamabad, and while I have confirmation that the police verification was completed weeks ago, the status remains frozen at under processing. The uncertainty hangs heavy in the air, like a fog that refuses to lift. I poured my soul into the cover letter and provided every requested document to prove my intent is pure. Has anyone else endured such a long wait after the verification stage, or is my application lost in the verses of bureaucracy?
Realizing this is not about a standard tourist application delay but specifically regarding Belgium’s process involving Article 7 verification.
I was subjected to a similar ordeal last year regarding a family visit visa.
While Putris experience is valid, I want to add a data point regarding the communication channels.
Unfortunately, long waits after police verification do happen, especially with Belgium applications from the region. “Under processing” can sit unchanged for weeks or even months, and it doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong or that your file is lost.
Police verification being completed is a neutral step — the final decision still sits with the consular section, and internal backlogs aren’t visible to applicants. Many people only see movement right before a decision is made.
It’s understandably stressful, but at this stage the delay alone isn’t a negative signal. If the wait becomes excessive beyond local norms, a polite follow-up through VFS or the embassy is reasonable, but otherwise it’s mostly a matter of time.
